International Carbon Markets and Just Energy Transitions

30 Oktober 2024

Workshop with the participation of leading experts

Starts at 17.00 until 19:00

Phasing out coal fired power is among the big global levers in decarbonization. Over the course of the past years relevant initiatives have emerged to tackle coal phase out on a larger scale. While substantive progress has been made in relation to develop the methodological tools, concrete interest from carbon markets has been cautious and no relevant transactions could be unlocked. This may be a reflection of the serious challenges posed by phasing out operating capacity direly needed by the growing economies, specifically in South East Asia.

This event brings together diverse perspectives on a just transition away from coal and showcases different approaches by the carbon market employed to support early phase out. A concrete transition pilot from the Philippines is featured to discuss technical, financial and methodological aspects.
